My Journey with ALS
Four years ago, David and I relocated to Prescott Arizona. We love to hike and there are hundreds of hiking trails in the area. Each day I woke up thinking about what wonderful wilderness trail were we going to hike today. We hiked almost daily. Today, I still wake up wondering what trail I would like to hike, then I really wake up. Today, because of ALS, I can barely walk. Life has changed. Each day I deal with new challenges as I adjust to my muscles being unable to help me. Daily tasks that used to take minutes, now take an hour.
I love life and will continue to face it head on. It is said that in times of adversity you will find out who your friends are. We are blessed to be surrounded by the kindest, loving friends one can ask for.
Please consider joining our team or help us raise money for the Arizona Chapter. Click on either link above to "Join our Team" or "Donate to a Team Member."
Don't worry if you can't join us in person, you can still make a donation so that they can continue to make a difference in the lives of families affected by ALS in Arizona.
We pray a cure is near... just hope it will not be to late.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments a cure. Will you join us?
ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
